Death toll from Lassa fever hits 118 in Nigeria

118 people have lost their lives from the recent outbreak of Lassa fever in the country, as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) 

The NCDC revealed that 689 confirmed cases, 2633 suspected cases and 118 deaths have been recorded in the country from January 1st to February 23th.

It was gathered that, the number of casualties has significantly increased from what was reported same period in 2019. It was reported at same time in 2019, that 1249 suspected cases with 381 confirmed and 83 deaths were recorded.

In a previous statement made by the NCDC, 27 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 115 local government areas.
