Housewife arrested for pushing co-wife, baby into well in Kano

A housewife, identified as Hauwa Lawal, 30, has been arrested by police officers in Kano state for allegedly pushing her 35-year-old co-wife Zuwaira Sani, and her 18-month-old son into a well.

DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the Kano police command spokesperson, while confirming the incident revealed that the police on Friday January 3rd, received a report that the suspect had a misunderstanding with Sani and that during their argument, she pushed Sani who at the time had her baby strapped on her back into the well. Sadly she drowned but her baby survived the incident.

“The suspect had a misunderstanding with the victim, in the process they started fighting in the house. The suspect pushed her rival along with her 18-month-old son, Mustafa Gambo, whom she was backing into a well situated in their house. Operation Puff-Adder, swung into action and arrested the suspect on Saturday at about 1:17 a.m.

“The victims were removed from the well and were rushed to Rano Hospital where Sani was confirmed dead, while her son is alive and has been discharged from the hospital. The suspect confessed to the crime” Haruna said

He stated that Hauwa would be charged to court soon.
