Openly-gay Nigerian man identified simply as Ayo has stated that he will be the first Nigerian to get married openly as a gay man in Nigeria.
Ayo made this known in a post he made on his Instagram page, demanding a reversal of the law prohibiting gay marriages in Nigeria.
His post reads

Recall that former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan signed the anti-gay law in January 2014. The law prohibits homosexual activities in the country which includes gay marriages. It prescribes a 14-year prison sentence for any gay person caught in the act of homosexuality.
