A 32-year-old mum of two identified as Hassan Bala of Usuba has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for the attempted kidnap of one Umar Sarkin Turaku of Kawo village in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, Hassan who was nabbed following a tip-off, joined the kidnapping business after her marriage to her husband crashed. She planned to kidnap Turaku on 19th February 2020, but her prospective victim alerted the police about the incident before her arrest was perfected.
It was gathered that, Turaku filed a complaint with the police after receiving threatening phone calls, asking him to pay the sum of 5 million naira or risk being kidnapped.
Confessing to the crime, the mum of two said;
“After separating from my husband, I got a man friend who introduced me to this business, and that was how I started ruining my life because of money. I am a disgrace to womanhood. Since I left my husband, my life and situation have worsened. Life is not fair to me in all standards. It is unfortunate. I regret my action; my family, children and friends will definitely desert me, but I pray they find a place in their hearts to forgive me.”
Muhammad Abubakar, the Niger State Police command spokesperson, revealed that the suspect who has already confessed to the crime will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
