Ex Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has reportedly terminated his lucrative contract with Turkish club, Trabzonspor over the club and league organisers’ stance to continue the season despite the Coronavirus pandemic.

Reports coming out of Turkey suggests that Mikel met the club and mutually terminated his contract after he posted the photo below on his Instagram page.

The midfielder said :
“Everyone should be home with their families and loved ones in this critical time. Season should be cancelled as the world is facing such turbulent times. There is more to life than football. I do not feel comfortable and don’t want to play football in this situation.”
The Turkish Football Federation is one of the few remaining federations in the world yet to suspend the league over Coronavirus.
Teams have been playing behind closed doors since the outbreak reached the level of a pandemic.
