Nigerians react after Burna Boy says he’s ”the best since Fela Kuti”

Nigerian Twitter users are reacting to tweets made by singer, Burna Boy, stating that he is the best since Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and that no one paved a way for him.

Burna Boy who lost out the world best music album in the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony which was was held on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, had earlier tweeted this;

“FACT! I always knew I was and I am THE BEST. Everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m BEST since Fela Kuti. But @timayatimaya told me something a long time ago that made me not care about being the best. “The World can do without the Best” the world will still spin regardless.”

Well, a twitter user who felt this was a diss to his seniors in the music industry, asked where he was when afrobeat was still “crawling” between the years 2010-2018. Burna Boy who responded, said that nobody paved the way for him. He went on to claim that Nigerian singers were begging and paying the western world for their songs to be heard before he brought Africans the respect they now have.
