Student dies after being flogged by a teacher in school (photo)

Kelvin Ogheneogaga, a Junior Secondary School ( JSS) student of Ekiugbo grammar school, Ughelli North Local Government area of Delta state has died after he was flogged by a teacher in school.

According to the Nation, the death of the teenage boy resulted into a protest among the students on February 26.

The angry students destroyed the principal’s office and attacked the teacher. The arrival of the men of the police force couldn’t calm the situation, as the students were very angry and enraged.

The students threw stones and other dangerous weapons at the police men.

The students were incensed because they felt Kelvin’s death was avoidable. They claimed that the teacher was informed that the victim wasn’t feeling too well, due to a leg injury he sustained and pleaded with the teacher not to flog him.

But the teacher ignored their warnings and continued flogging the teenage boy.

The victim developed some complications when he got home and was rushed to Ughelli central hospital where he died.
